The software is a black box - no idea what calculations are being made. It is extremely difficult to navigate. It is difficult to save your result - that should be simple and transparent. It is not.
Cons: Hard to prepare

The software had all the schedules and covered all of the topics which I needed. Did not use the Business portion. Did use Schedule C, Schedule K-1 report, Sales of stock, Sale of rental property.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Simple & expert tax software costs almost nothing!

I am not at all good at accounting and taxes but over the past 15+ years using H&R Block software with its very easy to use step-by-step process, became an expert in preparing my taxes. It’s definitely the BEST and second to none!!

I've had so many problems with this software. Took 10-15 try's before it opens, just as many to submit returns. I've used it for 10 years but this is the last.

Product hasn't improved materially in years. In addition technical support for it is atrocious. Once you purchase it you're on your own. If any part of the software malfunctions the customer support will happily tell you to download the forms from IRS and go old fashioned.

The "Premium" 1040 part of the program was a nightmare this year. The "Amount of Refund" or "Owed" changed even after all the data/figures were entered. When it was ready to print or efile, just doing a review or recalculate in the menu produced a new "amount of refund". After efiling with one refund amount, I printed a copy of the return and it produced a different amount. Reinstalling and reentering data did not solve this problem. I cannot be confident either the efiled or printed version is right! The Business 1041 part of the program has always been quirky, but I've learn how to work around those problems. Couldn't figure out how to work around the 1040's problems.
