I'm a retired CPA, using H&R Block instead of professional-level software for the first time. In general, the 1040 software and 1120-S software I used included all the features which I needed to generate correct returns. However, the exhaustive detailed question-answer format made the process much longer for me to use than I would have expected. After completing an 1120-S and filing an extension, when I went back to finish up and file the returns, the software would not load or update. I spent significant time on the phone with an agent who knew absolutely nothing about the software or what she was doing. In the end I had to go back to my prior professional program to run that return. So ... the process of fixing software which had glitched was pathetic and impossible.
There's nothing more painful than being told to consult with a tax expert for something that falls outside of H&R Block's software. The Qualified Business Income Deduction has caused me that problem for two years in a row. It got better this year, but still I had to be on my own for the issue.
Decent tool for doing your own taxes. Missing a lot of context-sensitive help. Links from a calculated field are sometimes available, but not always. Technical help is hard to reach in a reasonable amount of time. Price is right.
The worse ever. I want a refund. The system glitched and lost all my tax returns. I tried to reinstall same thing. Now I can't get the system to install and all the work is gone. I was unable to use the software. My taxes are now late. I have to now pay for software and late fee to its. WORSE EVER!!!!!! I WANT A REFUND!!!!!
No because two years in a row, it lost my tax file which is complicated and hard to redo each year. Prior years were good, I would have given 4 to 5 stars, but I can't afford to keep having this happen.
