I have been using H&R Block software to do our personal and business tax returns for almost 30 years. They are always simple to do, even with more than one business to report on! I know that I can rely on the software to collect the right data and safely report it in the right places calculating the best possible end result for me. Knowing that I have the support of the firm if the tax auditor comes knocking on my door provides peace of mind. I recommend using this software to my friends on a regular basis!

Good or better than TurboTax Desktop, definitely better than any Online/cloud tax prep like TurboTax Online or TaxAct Online.
Lots of little things are done better compared to the competition, I noticed, both in my own tax return and also in running several of my own tax prep training scenarios..
Nitpicks from doing my own return:
(1) Stock transactions: I should have entered totals and sent details as an attachment. Import worked but there were dozens of unclearable warnings, even after I fixed the glitchy data. Never could satisfy Accuracy Check. And 27 persistent Data Verifications. Need a checkbox to say "Relax! Stop showing this one."
(2) K-1 input: dialog needs tightening: put all boxes on one page first, then follow-up with the nitpicky questions later, and only the ones relevant to the boxes used Maybe fine for one K-1 but with multiple PTPs' K-1, it's a pain.
(3) Scary: I wish it hadn't waited until the very end of efile to tell me "You need to update this program before you can efile." That was weird. Wish that had come up earlier, before the critical final steps. But it all got handled correctly and dumped me back at the right place in efile when the upgrade was done.

I have used HR Block deluxe for years and would rate it a 5. Had to upgrade to Premium for an estate and trust, both had very few simple transactions. Not even close as far as user friendly. A big disappointment compared to using the Deluxe version.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
