The product is good but often not compatible with changes with Microsoft. I always have difficulty uploading the prior year's returns. Their is a a challenge with electronically filing the State taxes and I often have to print and mail.
It would be nice if the input from 1099 K's and other 1099's from prior years would load into this years program. It would be far easier to delete one that is not needed vs inputting all of the data required for numerous 1099's.
I was a Turbo Tax user for over 20 years and very happy with the software. However, I then created a small LLC for a few real estate holdings. TT "business" will create the LLC return but one must purchase a "regular" package to complete one's personal taxes. I switched to H&R Block as your Business package allows both returns to be filed with the same package. For me, that is where the benefits end. Compared to TT, the Block product is light-years behind in being intuitive and easy to understand. The constant prompt to "open full page" often makes it more like filling in an onscreen PDF, than having tax assistance software. I have used the Block package for about 4 years now and it has never retained a retrievable copy of both returns, even once. It has failed to import anything into the "business" program 4 out of 5 times, and the "personal" importation of data is spotty at best. The nuisance of having to pay for state filing is also irritating, a feature which TT, back when I last used it, had already forgone and the initial filings of both state and federal returns were included. The electronic filing of both business and personal returns (after payment) is straightforward and the notification system is easy to monitor, but all that is pretty much industry standard at this point. All in all, I still appreciate the "one packager" solution, but H&R Block has a long way to go the compete with Turbo Tax in anything close to equivalency.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
I was unable to submit e return. This is because of an "incorrect amount of the last year return" of my wife. The last year we submitted join e-return with my wife using your software. I guess the software was at least partly responsible for the error.
