Not intuitive, program was not fully operational until close to filing deadline, finicky installation, entries did not always carry over through all forms. Price advantage compared to other popular software is considerable, yet does not outweigh issues and lack of ease of use

There is a new compatibility problem that arose in 2022 with Windows. An update corrupted the data stores for 2018, 2019 2020 and 2021. I find the product a nuisance now. I haven't found any relaible fixes for the datastore

People say if it is too good to be true then it probably is. This program comes complete with both complete with both individuals 1040 forms and business 1065, 1120 and more. However, for two years now 2020 & 2021 somewhere along the way I get an error every time I try and open the program and it shuts down. Updating does nothing to solve the problem. It almost seems like the software is seasonal just like income taxes can be.
I switched to HR Block from another program but next year I'll be going back to the former. It is a little more expensive and I have not experienced any problems with it. My main reason for switching was costs. You get what you pay for so be careful.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

This year it got real quirky. Forms were automatically added even when I had no data indicating the form was needed. Declared Federal disaster losses that were indicated in the interview and listed were not calculated in the return. Getting them to be included in the return required an undocumented step (at least I found no direction to do this). For these large loses to actually be put in play on had to review the worksheet and then check the box for disaster loss a 2nd time otherwise your data went no where.
Problems were experienced in several different returns, something that has not happened prior to the 2021 software.
Not sure I will buy this software again. If one cannot trust it to simply do as it should why buy it? I am not a software tester nor a tax expert. They are supposed to have all the bugs removed prior to release or at least fix them early on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Every year I hope to see improvement on the forms and guidance for filing a trust return. The guidance is terrible for trusts.

We have mixed feelings about this package. We have used it for years so we do each year for the history. Overall it is not that great. Lots of confusion with IRA's in particular if you are don't qualify for the entire amount. Also confusing with topics like earned income credit and health insurance. I would look hard at other products.

I have used this software for many years and it has always delivered a good result for me. The forms I have prepared include 1099's with accompanying form 1096, W-2's and W-3's, various 1040's, 1120's and numerous 990's including the more difficult 990PF. The state forms are as easy to prepare as most of the federal forms.
