Failed to file on time due to update requirements

Had the software updated when I started. Kept the same session running a few days while working on my personal return before it was ready for filing. When I attempted to file the return, it appeared to start but with a pending status. After waiting for a few hours, assumed the pending status was due to sending outside of IRS working hours. Did not shut down and checked a few days later which was after raffle deadline, only to find it did not send and multiple attempts to send failed without error warning. Finally shut down and realized an update was required. I'm now being fined for late filing. So disappointed. A simple error warning for update required would have prevented this.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

As a customer of the PC version of the software for over 20 years, the electronic filing screwup on April 14/15, forcing paper extensions to be filed and delayed refunds made me believe that Block is no longer equipped to handle getting taxes filed timely.
Junk for 2023 tax year filing.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
