Good features, but quirks in the system

When I bought the personal and business bundle, a mistype in the key for the business part made it uninstallable. Then there was the crash of the system when trying to electronically file. With that successful, the program didn't recognize that it had been sent and didn't allow an electronic sending of the Virginia State form. If this happens again, will be looking for a different Tax software.

I am still trying to find the AGI and/or the PIN used last year when I used the same H&R Block software. This is basic information you should have and allow me to verify asap and not have to find it in my own files which could have easily bee corrupted by a bad computer or other issues. So this is something you can fix easily in your processes. I never had that issue with other software.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been using many years now. The 2023 filling tax had some issues not from the software but the figure did not agree with the IRS. So was not sure why, we then posted manually for filling. Now since we did this time, would his stop us for next year or so on, that is going to be worrisome

The software works okay but should be a lot better

Note: I file a relatively complex tax. The comments below are my opinion based on a complex return. Also note, I work directly on my tax forms. I do not use the interview function.
The software works, which is a good thing.
The problem is it feels like it has not been updated in years. Problems that I have persist year after year. I have gotten used to them and I have found work arounds, but I rather they be fixed.
The user interface is dated. For example, say you have multiple stock trades. The software has only one trade per worksheet. You will have pages and pages of worksheets. There is no quick way to move from page to page. You can’t flip through them. There is not summary feature. There is only one long pull down at the top of the screen. Each page is labeled Copy 1, Copy 2, Copy 3, etc. There has got to be a more elegant way to present and access this information.
If you have a complex return with K-1s, you are going to face additional challenges. I have found on the K-1 forms there are many places where I enter information but the program does not use the information, resulting in an inaccurate return. I have had to resort to checking the “Federal Refund” after each entry. If the number does not change then I know the information was not used.
One minor frustration is when you right click on an auto filled entry and select “jump to related.” All too often you get the response “There are no related entries available here.” This is nonsense. It was auto filled. The numbers came from somewhere.
I have been using Block software for twenty years. Obviously, I am comfortable with it and I am used to the quirks. But if you are starting for scratch, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

Great value! Personal+Business+Audit Protection!

Easy to use personal and powerful business. Business is not as easy as personal, and it's a bit buggy, but it's more flexible than turbotax. Personal+Business+Audit Protection all in one purchase is a great value compared to turbotax.
