There are 2 issues I have every year that has not been correlated yet. In the personal return for New York State, even though I write that I am a full time nyc resident, it doesn't take off the nyc tax amount until the next page where it asks again about residency,
In the business side. It says I can not file because I didn't create the efile, yet it doesn't ask you to create the efile until the next step, so I have to go force the efile before I can go on.

I just filed my federal taxes. It was not easy. The program generated forms that I did not need and did not generate forms that I eventually did need. I use the H&R Block personal income tax program and it works fine. I have used the business program two years in a row now, but will look for an alternative next year. It is just not very user friendly.

I have used H&R Block tax software since 1995 and like it very much. Having said that, I'm always confused when it comes to the IRA RMD section. I don't understand the questions about distributions so probably never fill out that section correctly (although I've never been audited). Wondering if there could be better HELP instructions for the IRA part.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Good product except only after an update in late January did I feel "comfortable" with the product. It would be a great relief if the user was informed before hand to wait for the update that the provider knows was needed to get programed results expected by user.

The business program blew up about 10 times and had to be reinstalled each time. In my final attempt I got it to work but it wouldn't print. I had to copy forms by hand. I think there was a printer update which i installed around the 7th or 8th iteration of the program. Note too that i didn't know what was going on so I downloaded the program (I think 5 times) trying to get it to work and was then informed that I had used up my downloads. (If I'm crazy enough to use this program next year, you owe me a freebie. I might just give it to my neighbor--I don't like him very much.) PS I am using Windows 10.

Been using the program for years and for someone picking it up and trying I would not recommend.
You have to know the product and the curves it gives you year after year. Not to mention I have returns that require the NJ state return and while I understand it’s required to submit through NJ, why can HR at least offer a template of what to expect.
