I have continued to buy H&R Block software for the last several years for it's ease of use and accuracy of results. The interviews are thorough, the suggestions and data checks are clear and precise, and, although I haven't needed it so far, the guarantee of support in case of an audit is very reassuring.

I have reported to you that every year I fill out the CT state tax return then recompute it on the state's website and end up getting serveral hundred more dollars back. I don't understand why you can make your state return more accurate. The problem is in the Social Security deduction. So much for your maximum guarantee.
Also I need to enter an amount from a K-1 into form 8995 and you do not give me the ability to do it unless I override the entry. When I do, I am not able to efile.
And, one other thing. The retreival of files in the personal tax area is so much easier than the business. This year I could not get the business to import and I ended up reinputting all the information for a trust. Not a valuable use of my time.

I am waiting for a call from Block now. I tried to file my Federal last week and it got rejected telling me that the IRS rejected my return because my spouse's social had already been used this year to file. After two calls to the IRS and was assured that no one had filed under my husband's social, I was told the problem was with block. Since I haven't heard back yet, they still have two more days, it looks like I may have to mail my return
It is just frustrating to tell people about these issues and nothing changes. I almost switched to Turbo tax this year.

Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It did not have a good explanation for some of the inherited funds I had to report. It also did not give help with figuring my CA tax payments for next year.

I've been using HnR for over a decade. The installation process is straightforward and the software is very simple to use. I appreciate all the 'help' features that explain interview questions and the E-file capabilities.. Some areas could improve (eg capital gains/loss input area 8 digits vs 7, PDF import of 1099B, 1099Rs) but these are very minor since the input process is streamlined.

This tax software is awful. No benefit to it other than it keeps history from prior year. I got done with my entire return to find out the software was messed up and I couldn’t Efile. I tried to previously complete a survey with a negative review and HR Block wouldn’t post it so hopefully this makes it.
