Filing easy, but unsure if the amount owed is min

The process was easy, but I'm unsure about the qualified capital gains (schedule-D) part. The retirement income was less than the gains, so that income nuber was used....I don't think that is the right deduction for my case.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

While I was eventually able to fight my way through filing my return, the business filing component was unstable and crashed a lot throughout the process (and yes I dutifully applied available updates as they were made available). I also found it troubling that I had to run it as "administrator" for it to work at all, else it produced a database error code of some sort. This product definitely needed some additional time in the QA department.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

The personal side is fairly easy to work with and quick. Taken by itself, I would give it 5 stars. However, the business side really needs significant improvement. By itself, the business side is probably 1 or 2 stars at most. Very cumbersome and hard to work with, incomplete instructions and explanation, error checking/correcting is almost insurmountable due to software glitches. For next year, I'll probably get a different business tax software.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My grandfather actually purchased this software to do my taxes. It was very straightforward because I had a couple of w-2s. However, he mentioned that he preferred TurboTax when it comes to more complex tax situations. But at least my taxes were essentially a snap using h&R block software.

I've been a loyal user forever. Today's Business software is exrtremely buggy. Seems like things went down hill when you changed to a new file structure and transitioned from Windows 10 to 11. When support was contacted numerous times a reply was never received. Personal filing continues to be reliable. May move to Turbotax next year!

When you attempt to get support for the desktop product they try to sell you on the online product by telling you that it is free when it is not for more complicated returns. Support doesn't know much about the desktop version, which is glitchy and has created errors that have cost us money. Wish more attention went into the desktop version, but it remains better than the competitor, which I suspect is all that Block really cares about.

Don't buy Business Tax if you only have Rentals

Bought the Business Tax and found it really is not for me for my rental property business. I then had to buy the Premium Tax that handles all my rental property tax well. Won't make that mistake again.

Comprehensive Software for 2024

I have used H & R Block tax software for probably 10 years now. Always good to stay with the same software as importing the previous years data is much easier. The 2024 user ability was better than previous years and as usual the software leads you where you need to go and pulls in forms and schedules needed. One thing that could be done better is allow the user to see the depreciation calculations and give the user the ability to chose which depreciation schedule they want along with descriptions of each. This is the first year since 2018 that we used home office expense. How the depreciation of our home was calculated is still unclear to me.

Cons: Hard to import documents
