I have used H&R Block software (and its predecessors) for over 20 years. It has been a consistently good product with clear, logical instructions and an organized process to prepare and file your taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Never again. Programmers should be beyond embarrassed. Crashes constantly - no way to import last year - so that becomes kind of pointless. 1/2 of the screens are "fill in this form" and nothing else. I can do that with the actual form - no need for software. Did I mention the crashes? Along with not being able to save or backup the data. (Putting it in a file format that requires years old software to be reinstalled to open a previous year or a backup is NOT acceptable) It took me longer to do my business taxes with HR block than it would have for me to just do them by hand - and I still had to go over them again because I do not trust this software (which is 100% the fault of HR Block, the software, and the morons you hire to write code)
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If you need to import from Turbotax, you're OOL

If you need to import from Turbotax, you're outta luck. I bought this thinking I would be able to import from my Business Turbotax that I used last year. There was no way to import. Hopefully they will fix that for next year. I did like the pricing and I used H&R block for my personal and I like the software.
Cons: Hard to import documents

I purchased the software at the beginning of the year and was happy to only need to purchase 1 product to do both my business (partnership) and personal taxes. The system worked well, but I did have some issues with the walk thru wizard when setting up the schedule k's in business taxes. I had put in all the partners in the setup, but when it came to building the schedule Ks, the wizard only did 1 and never prompted to add the additional documents. After stumbling around, I finally figured out how to get the others entered. Other than that, it was a good solid product and I was able to get my taxed done in a timely fashion.

I have used this software for years and it is very very good at guiding you through taxes. It has a lot of explanations of topics. One way to improve the software is to add a lot more explanations to the business portion of the software, where it is lacking of "do you qualify for this 123 section" type questions.

For the 2nd year in a row using your software I wasn't able to efile. Now I'm waiting over a month to get my refund. And I paid more for a program I didn't need.
