I use H&R Block income tax software every year for my Federal and Virginia state income tax returns. It is easy to use and asks all of the questions needed. The accuracy review has always been helpful. I highly recommend H&R Block income tax software.

I bought this software in January 2025. I was extremely disappointed with this product. In the past I used TurboTax. I will be going back to TurboTax. HR Block software not user friendly. All help is nothing but IRS instructions which is confusing to most people unless preparer has accounting knowledge.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

This year, I had significant problems with the program crashing or freezing and importing prior year data. The program would crash or freeze upon printing. When this is happening on 4/15, that's not good.

I prepared income taxes for over 30 years. (Before Ortax). Your new program isn't user-friendly. A preparer should be able to flip through and view the pages as it will be filed.

While the personal tax software is relatively up to date, the business software is buggy and feels abandoned - the user interface feels like 2010. Often I have to start over on the business taxes because the file created a memory exception - my taxes are pretty simple. Sometimes this happens after an update, but not always. I may have to seek alternatives if I can't count on it working when its tax time. The Personal Tax 2024 has not really changed in a while so it might have been abandoned as well - on feature missing is visual zoom - sometimes the fonts are just too small to read especially on small high resolution displays.
Pros: Easy to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
