Have to do several tweaks to stop it from crashing. The business does not include form 7203. Worst is how difficult it is to transfer last years business to the following year. The personal file is easy to find and easy to transfer but the business file requires a back up then restore and sometimes the restore does not work so if you cannot create another back up because the original computer has a problem then all the information has to be manually imputed. But other then that it works fine.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Leave yourself lotsa time for business return prep

This software is an example in contrasts. The personal program for Form 1040 works very well, though it lacks useful depth if your returns include K1 forms from Trusts or partnerships.
The Business program is another story. First, the old 32-bit architecture means that "out of memory" errors cause crashes. The IRS' late readiness with numerous forms means that the program can't be used until mid-late January to start your returns. The software lacks certain forms and in my 20 years of using it, I've never successfully e-filed a Form 1041.
The Business software is an iffy thing for customers, partly because the IRS doesn't release forms in a timely way. So while I eventually get my returns done, it can take a lot of time. Be prepared.

I brought this in 2023 and didnt have a good experience, logged several issues with the software performance, never resolved. I decided to give you another chance for 2024 given the effort to add LLC partner data etc. The problems began in the data transfer from 2023 and not all the partner info came into the 2024, then K1s would not print, logged a issue, never resolved, found my own work around.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Was easy to use and examine status, individual worksheets, etc.
Only problem, the 4 vs 5 stars was it did not update all fields regarding the net
tax due leaving the impression the change had made no difference.
Then, updating another issue caused the multiple change to take effect.
I found this twice during my prep work and when checking the return was able to see
where it had just not updated timely.
Otherwise once again, my go to for tax time every year.

I have been a Mac user since the original had no hard drive. I have used Parallels and Windows on my Mac and sometimes it works okay and sometimes it's a real challenge. I have ended up buying two Windows machines just to do the business returns because of glitches with using it on a Mac and because the first machine, after a year, couldn't handle the new software - so it has been expensive. If there were a Mac version, I would likely be giving it a 5 instead of a 3.

H&R Block software worked flawlessly and the e-upload to the IRS worked fine.
