I've been using this product for at least two decades from when it was called TaxCut. I'm generally happy with the product, but I can't give it five stars because of a number of annoyances that I've reported many times to no avail.
For example, I don't use the program's default directories. It would be nice if I could specify to the program where I want it to store things, but I can't and have to keep setting the desired directory.
I also have to go through my many depreciation items and have to re-set the depreciation period year after year. I wish the program would remember those settings as it would save me a lot of time, especially since the tax law doesn't allow me to change the depreciation period. So, why does the program make me declare it every year?
On a related note, I have a couple of pages of depreciation items. When I get to the second page of items to review and finish an item, the program takes me back to the first page of items instead of returning me to the last item I entered. If the "page down" key worked, it would be a bit better. But, I can only scroll the page with the mouse. Again, a waste of my time.
I use an IRS IP Protection PIN. The program did not ask me for that and my return was initially rejected by the IRS. I had to find the correct background worksheet into which to enter the PIN manually. That's an omission from the interview which I hope will now be fixed.

Cons: Time consuming

Some minor issues in importing information from previous return, but once you work around it, it is straightforward.

I found the program somewhat difficult to work with—felt like I was fighting with it. It left me thinking it wasn’t doing what I wanted or should. I don’t really know what forms were submitted electronically. But it’s a good thing that I could submit electronically because the printouts are an absolute disaster. No way I could have mailed them—109 pages many with only a couple inches of print per page and still managed to lop off the top or bottoms. Tried legal size paper with the same results. PDF print to file unsuccessful.

OK, but doesn't stand out compared to Intuit

Works fairly well, and it's good that it works on Windows 8 because I do NOT want to install later versions of Windows which spy on you. However, there are some non-ergonomic features. You can't take the itemized lists from one year to the next; there's no easy way to allocate an expense among different categories or different businesses; the flow of data is opaque; starting and stopping the interview is awkward. Would like to see this software stand out from Intuit's in terms of transparency and convenience, but it really doesn't right now.
