I've used the H&R Block tax software for many years and have always been happy with it. I've not tried TurboTax, but I can't imagine how it can be much better for the significantly higher price. The only problem I've had with this year's version is there is not good instructions for entering information from a 1099-Q, which was very frustrating.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare

Impossible to back up once you e-file. I overlooked a deduction. It will always overlook having that personal touch with a real employee.

I had no problem doing my return even with having new deductions this year, I know I will use there product from now on and I love how you can update where your refund is.

I'm a long, long time Turbo Tax user who switched this year... Turbo Tax just keeps getting more and more ridiculous. Last year's turbo tax files loaded information directly into this year's returns in HR Block and in every category possible I prefer to use the HR Block software, I only wish I had made the switch years ago! And basic covers everything for Sch A, itemizing, and Sch C, babysitting income, Sch D investments, and employee business expenses (mileage for a route), plus much much more, this just happens to cover my needs... there no need to pay extra for a deluxe version unless you need the extra help! I love it!
