I have used several tax preparation programs over the years. Each is slightly different and requires getting accustomed to, I think, but this one has done all I need for the past few years, is pretty straight forward, less expensive, simple and free to efile, and fully satisfactory for my needs.
Although it doesn't make any difference in my case, the interview for K-1 does not ask about the "Final K-1" or Amended 'K-1" boxes. The generated K-1 work sheet has entries for these and I manually marked the correct box in Form View.
I was told by a professional who did trust 1041 taxes that I should file a Schedule E with part III filled out to show the trust name and EIN. I only had long term Cap gains (box 4a) data on my K-1 from the trust. This did not cause a Schedule E to be generated. I forced a Schedule E out by, during the interview for K-1, entering $1 for K-1 box 6 and $-1 for box 7. That generated a Schedule E and I overrode the + and - 1's to zeros on Schedule E before printing.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
I bought this today because TurboTax is no longer sold in stores.I prefer not to download tax software. I think if you should put a link to start a new form at the end of each 1099 it would be easier I had several 1099R's and it was hard to find where the "Enter Manually" link was each time I wanted to start another 1099R.
