I used this software last year, when I prepared our own taxes for the first time and was pleased with it. I purchased it again this year and last year's data transferred over easily. I found it very explanatory and easy to use. I would recommend it. Good price.
I have used H&R Block for more than five years, with good results. This year, the printer interface seemed to be craptastic - just a few faint gray lines - and this was after I just installed new cartridges, which work just fine on every other software. I had to print to a .pdf
We had to file tax returns for federal and for two states, because we relocated in the middle of 2018. The program was very helpful in dealing with the two states, Illinois and Oregon.
However, there is one feature on the federal return which could be improved. The software does not allow the user to enter the full account number when entering data from a 1099-DIV. The software only accepts 12 characters. My account numbers are longer than 12 so the account numbers were truncated when I entered them. I wondered how the software had handled this in prior years, so I checked my H&R Block software for 2017 and 2016. In those years, the software did not require the user to enter an account number from the 1099-DIV. For 2018, the software includes a field for an account number from the 1099-DIV, but it only accepts 12 characters. I believe the software should have been written to accept longer account numbers.
I have been using your software for the past 10 years or so and it is pretty easy to use and the questions and prompts are make entering the data a snap.
I have been using this product (H&R Block Basic) for many years. It is as easy to use as it has ever been. Obviously it has been improved over the recent past.
