This is the second year in a row that I have had great difficulty with correcting errors that were made in calculating the correct RMD from my retirement account. Once the error was made my only recourse was to start the return all over again. After three attempts was able to complete my Federal return. The next problem was that the code for filing electronically was not accepted and I ended up filing on paper via USPS. I will not be using H & R Block software next year.

I entered the amount from a 1099 the company place in the state income field. My state does not have an income tax but the system errored and marked the federal income box. I finally deleted the state income and it cleared. The system should not have accepted the state income for non-income state

I would have rated the product higher except I agreed to a pre-purchase offer in November 2025, and I never received an email with an activation code. I had to call HR and get assistance. I googled my problem and found many similar complaints. Disappointing and shakes your confidence in HR. Otherwise, the product was 5 star.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

While the software is still useful, there was one major downgrade from previous years. While it does support multiple people submitting their federal return, which is useful for families with multiple taxpayers, it no longer offers that for the state. Each person filing has to buy the state now, which makes it not as good of a deal as it was before.
