I have been using the H&R Block software for about 30 years. I tried the "other guy" a couple of times and didn't like the product.
I love that it transfers my data from one year to the next automatically, to save time filling out the forms with the same thing I used last year.

I HAVE BOUGHT AND USED THIS TAX SOFTWARE FOR MANY YEARS AND CAN'T BELIEVE HOW EASY IT IS TO FILE!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND H & R BLOCK!!!!!

The instructions can be a bit obscure at times, but overall the software is of a high quality. It walks you through the process in a logical way. I found a few points where I needed to use the help function, which was easy to use. I found the software relatively simple to use, and I was able to prepare my taxes in less than an hour.

I've been using H&R Block tax software for 18 straight years. Now into retirement, I only need the Basic version for my much simpler economic situation. I wouldn't consider using any other tax prep software. H&R Block has been consistently good through the years.

The Federal Tax software is a great price, easy to use, 5 free e-files, and there's no need to upgrade as the basic is all one needs even if depreciating items in rental property. Do not buy the state tax software as this is where they make up for the federal tax software being so cheap. Once the federal tax is complete one can easily do their state tax manually and save a bundle.
