I was disappointed last year, not with the software, but with the governments massive increase in the minimum percentage for medical and charitable donations. However, the change has simplified my tax preparations because I no longer keep the documents to prove the deduction. Doing my taxes is a breeze now and I know my H&R software will always provide the maximum results. I don't know about other "free" software but the ease of filing through H&R Block is excellent!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Too many "No related entries available here". What? Every data field is populated from original data entry elsewhere. Everything comes from somewhere! TaxCut has gotten lazy compared to many years ago when it was possible to understand any carried forward data.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used this software for several years now. It is reasonably priced and works well. Have no problems with it, so will continue to use it as long as the price stays reasonable.

I have been a very satisfied customer using H&R block's software since 2014. Since 2015, I have e-filed from the country of Israel where I am now living.
This year, unfortunately, I hit a major snag when it was time to e-file. The program flagged an error because I did not enter a "domestic daytime phone number". I tried to "correct" the error by entering a number directly into the form, but it would not allow me to because I have a foreign address! I was caught in a "catch-22". The program told me to print and mail the return. Obviously it is much more convenient to e-file.
