HRB Basic for 2019 tax season is perfect for either the walk-thru method, or the shoe-box method. Tax forms from institutions arrive in the mail for weeks... all I need to do is open HRB, navigate to the income section, and enter the data. In some cases I can download the same data over the Internet using the built-in HRB feature. Uploading my forms to the IRS was a breeze, and they were accepted within hours. Refund on the way! It is easy, accurate, and trustworthy, in my experience.
I bought Basic 2019 in December and downloaded the upgrade on 1/25/2020. That download had an obvious error on the Section 199A deduction calculation; it wouldn't let me deduct the $401 I was entitled to. Doing another download fixed that, though. Even after that download, in trying to finish and submit the return, I found that Block's version of the Form 1116 (Foreign Tax Credit) would not allow me to enter the country of origin on line i; you're supposed to put "RIC" (Registered Investment Company) if you own shares in a mutual fund. In addition to those things, printing the whole return with worksheets gives a confused mess of weirdly interleaved forms. What gives, H & R? Will things get worse from here, or better?
I have been using H&R tax preparation software for years and as long as remains thorough and easy to use (which I fully expect) I will continue to use it in the future. Great product!!
Was easy to follow. Where i would have had ,there were detailed comments i could read and understand. It didn't take long to complete. Most of the time spent was reading the explanations given.
Its my 4th year using this product and I'm very comfortable with it......
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
