Although I love using H&R the copy I bought only had a 7 digit code in the box. The CD from the box would not load and I ended up having to download the software from the internet. I also had to contact customer support to get another valid code as the one from the package and the one from the download did not work.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

Only one problem

I would recommend it to a friend but there needs to be a fix in one area. When about to e-file and send the data off I got an error message that said: Update Software and then the message "The Software Manager is already running. Please try again after your update(s) or your state program has been installed. I kept trying but got the same message.
I got some support and was asked to go to Tools: Update software. But, I got the same error message. The support person said to uninstall and reinstall the program. I resisted doing all that without knowing whether that would fix the problem.
It's a good thing I didn't because it wouldn't have helped. I found the problem in a single digit mistake in my 12 digit credit card number, which I had to put in to e-file the state tax forms. When I corrected it I could file it.
A software fix is needed to more precisely identify such errors and not depend on a vague error message such as above. Also, some additional training is needed to the support people in understanding this problem. Reinstalling the software is not a catch-all cure all.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So Easy!

It used to take me hours to wade through tons of records/receipts while doing my taxes; even with tax software programs. Last year and this year was amazingly easy. So thrilled to get my information entered and file with the IRS in less than an hour!

H&R is simple, thorough, and dependable . I have used it for years and trust the professional advice they offer for a reasonable cost. I do not believe you can do better for twice the price. My only criticism
is they do not allow me as much control over what I print, and they are being conservative there in that want me to have what they think I may need later in some future review. This is an absolutely excellent product on every level and I recommend it highly. If you can read, you can be your own professional tax advisor.

This is the second year I have used the software and it is super simple and provides great directions for someone like me that has zero knowledge of IRS requirements. Intend to use it next year.
