I would have given a higher rating if i had not had to wait for an IRS update on the 17th of FEB. I do not know if HR Block had any control of that or not,so if not, sorry.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

I bought this 2 months ago, downloaded it last month. On 2/5 I entered my taxes and was not able to file because I had to wait until 2/17 update. I couldn't understand that if it updated when I started why I couldn't file. This was disappointing to have to wait 10 days to file.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming

The final update took 2 extra weeks to be available. I could have already had the return in my account. But it's still worth spending money on the software. My 5th or more years using it.

First date was Jan 24 then Jan 25, then Feb 3, The last update date was Feb 17. return did not change at all , why was this held up?
Cons: Time consuming

Software crashed constantly on my 2018 MacBook Pro

Software crashed constantly on my 2018 MacBook Pro making it extremely difficult and frustrating to complete my return. I have used H&R Block software for many many years and have never experienced anything like this before. This software is very unstable. The only way I could get through the interviews was to save at each and every data input or else the software would crash and all would be lost. This will be my final time using H&R Block software.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Social Security filers e-file issues

After waiting for three total updates to clear a Social Security Worksheet issue, I was finally able to e-file on February 17. No issues with that except that we had absolutely NO clue as to why the delays kept happening. In the end it was OK but it was very frustrating just sitting and waiting on this fix.
Pros: Easy to prepare

No reason to wait for updates

I used turbo tax for many years and switched 5 years ago. Never any problems until this year. Would not let me e-file this year for almost 3 weeks due to updates. I checked with my friends who still use turbo tax. (NO PROBLEMS) This should not have happened.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming
