Reminds me of some programs ported from MS-DOS to Windows 3.1 by people in a hurry and on a limited budget. There is a single command thread and it is impossible while working on Form B to pull up Form A to check and correlate information. Going back a step often means going back 10. Validation errors point to the wrong field. Attempts to use any PDF pseudo-printer other than the one supplied fail (and this is the only app I know where that happens). Just used electronic filing for the first time, and it is still half-baked.
My tax return keeps getting rejected. Why? Because the tax software says that my 2020 AGI doesn't match the IRS transcripts.Well I looked my transcripts up and they match to the exact dollar. I ven called the iRS and they agreed.
I've used HRblock for many years while I was working full time. I got laid off after 20 yrs and now had a very different tax situation and as I tried getting through trying to file a SIMPLE return, I found myself so confused that I had bought 3 different packages in order to file, and to boot, I also had to pay for my RI State. That said, I'm not sure if I will utilize HRblock this coming year....
I have been using H&R Block Basic software for over 20 years. It is very easy to use particularly when you transport the previous years' basic data to the latest tax year. Most of the explanations available for questions you may have are adequate. Filling in data for the current tax year is straightforward and intuitive. The data check before submittal leaves no stone unturned. For these reasons, I keep using it every year.
