As last year, I found it easy to follow the step-by-step instructions. My sole complaint was that I could not figure out who to access a specific form without using the "back."
I have been using H&R tax software for more than 10 years and have never had an issue. Prompts and questions are easy and you are guided every step through the process. I plan to continue to use this product going forward.
For the first time, this year I had trouble importing last year's return. I had a pdf copy, but I couldn't locate my T-22 file. the pdf downloaded ok but the software said there was no usable information.
This is beta software. Picture this scenario. I complete the form, including valid W-2 information, efile it, and the IRS rejects it. What is H&R Block's troubleshooting suggestion? Review all forms with data (manually) for errors and resubmit. So, I look, and the W-2 information on the submitted form shows '0' for W-2 wages. Nothing I do changes the form. So I attempt to upload the same W-2, and that fails because the program is confused by having multiple copies of the W-2 on one page (the way my employer delivered it). So I crop all but one of the W-2 images and upload it to the program. Now, my address shows correctly in the program, but the program insists I hand-modify the address on the form itself. Problem is, the employee city field doesn't accept a city name with blank characters in it, so I have to type in ElizabethCity instead of Elizabeth City. I want a refund, I'm paying for complete, functioning software, not for the privilege of debugging your crap.
I have been using this software for, probably, 20 years. As long as I can remember. It is, and has always been great. Unfortunately, there a couple of hiccups this year. Had to wait for an update before filing my return. I didn't mind that too much. The real problem is that I can't print my return. There is some glitch with the way the package sends the return to the printer because it looks like the printed return has been scaled up to a size that won't fit on the page. Everything else on my Mac prints just fine. So, the issue only affects H&R software. I am hoping that they can get this resolved in a timely fashion. I have been able to file my return. I just can't get a printed copy;
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
