I have used H&R Block's tax software for several years and have always been very satisfied with the clarity and ease of use.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

THERE SHOULD BE AN EXPLAINATION ON THE DROP DOWNS TO MAKE YOUR CHOICE CORRECT. Being electronically challenged there was some difficulty with some of the choices.

Big problem in the "Deductions" section, specifically "State & Local Income Taxes" section.
I checked the box for "Est'd state taxes paid in 2022 or for 2022 - What Qualifies". That specific page, as well as the info under "What Qualifies" says that I can enter an estimated state tax payment, made in 2023 for 2022. I made a 2022 est'd tax payment on 01/14/2023, to cover my 2022 4th qtr est'd tax payment. I entered that information on the appropriate page, and continued with the remainder of the tax entry info in the following pages. Upon reaching the point where the program indentifies errors, it said that my 01-14-2023 tax entry (for est'd tax payment) was not allowed.
I went thru the CHAT process, with an actual person, and they found the same inconsistancy.
This is the first time in at least 9 years of using H&R Block Basic where this has happened. Previous years, this was not a problem.
I checked with NH State Tax office, & they confirmed that 2022 4th qtr est'd tax payment still could be made in January of 2023 - exactly what I did.
I hope this problem gets addressed before next year's tax return is due.

It is not as user-friendly as I remember TurboTax being, but it's a lot less expensive and it does the job with a lot less expense.

Downloaded software was easy to install and use. The price is the best for full functional software plus option for five e-files. My taxes was directly sent by e-file to IRS and I've got my refund in 4 working days. Most important of all the software is the cheapest on the market today.

Printing a copy of the e-file was not possible. Font size of the printed sheet was too large and the columns on the right side of the sheet didn't print out. Couldn't change the scale.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
