I have used H&R Block software for years, even when it was called TaxCut. It is simple to use, and I have never had any issues. I use the Basic version because I live in a state with no income tax and am comfortable filing tax returns and do not need any assistance. Having said that, I believe anyone could easily use this to file their returns with its easy input formats. It's a low-cost way to quickly complete and file your federal return. I don't understand why you would purchase the competitor's version which is way more expensive and does the same thing.

I have been using tax software for many years and have settled into using the H&R Basic. Year to year I find the program very dependable and simple to use with confidence. In retirement, my financial position much simpler, reporting to the IRS is fast and completed in minutes after receiving all of our documentation for the various institutions. The program references the previous years entries prompting us for possible missing documentation. The final review even offers the opportunity to consider alternate filling methods and any probable tax savings that can be had if used. Very smart program!
