H&R Block Basic software is easy to use and simplifies the tax preparation process. It's also very accurate and if I don't understand something or have any questions about choices on the forms, the help menus are easy to read aid me in making the best choice. I think H&R Block tax software is easier to use than their competitors.

It is easy to use. This is my first time that I file my taxes for my first job. My father helped me to install and update the software. I filled the personal information and w-2 with my father's guidance.

H&R Block software guides you thru the process of filling basic tax forms (I've not used more complex forms). Also has many helpful explanations embedded in each step. And electronic filing is quite easy. H&R Block makes tax filing preparation as simple as it can be.

Randomly crashes on a M1-based Apple MacBook Pro

Both the 2021 and 2022 Basic editions routinely and randomly crash on a 2021 MacBook Pro (Apple Silicone M1 processor). Once the application crashes, relaunching the application does not remedy the issue, the H&R Block software will continue to crash on the same question/step. The only remedy is to reboot the entire machine, relaunch the application and continue completing your tax return, saving after each response as the application will crash again on a subsequent question. Very frustrating and disappointing. After 14 consecutive years of using H&R Block's software, I will be using a different company's software for the 2023 tax return.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
