H&R Block is and has been my goto tax preparation software for 20 years, providing me with the best return value. I've used other tax preparation software side by side with H&R Block and the software provides me with the same or better tax returns. I highly recommend this software.

It meets my requirements for a federal return. I have to file in two states which makes it very expensive to use for anything but the federal filing.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I had a question concerning inputting prior year AGI and could not contact a live person to assist me. All support contact is to form responses to common questions. I eventually figured out the fix after a few hours. The lack of ability to contact a software support individual was more than frustrating.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have never had an issue with the product or a situation it didn't handle over the past 9 years (could be longer, just don't have the data anymore). The download of information from brokerage companies works smoothly and is for me the most important. This year I had a major life event and the product handled it.

The "prompts" and "Guide Me" provide assistance at every turn. It is very easy to go back to review, add or change data. The software is set up like a road map with an easy path to follow. At any time, you can look at any form such as the 1040 or the various Schedules and then resume to the "path". In addition to reporting income, dividends, interest, capital gains and stock sales, this year I added social security, pension and IRA distributions. All very easy. At the end, I am very confident that I did everything correctly and that I won't get audited or get a letter from the IRS.
