I have been using this basic program for several years. It has always met my and my extended family's varied needs. We find it easy to use and would recommend it to others. I'm not sure what the more complex programs have to offer but the basic program works well for us.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I have used H&R Block tax software for many years. It works as advertised. The software recognizes last year's returns, and I can used the saved information to fill out this year's return. I would recommend it.

Waste of paper, time, and ink

When a family member does not need Schedules 1, 2, and/or 3 all three schedules are printed with a multitude of zeroes. Terrible waste and not ecologically sound. I plan to use TurboTax next year for this reason

All the advertisement talks about support for questions. I did not find that to be the case.
I had a question about a form I needed to use for the first time ever. I found the phone support inadequate for my question. I was given a phone number for a live person which had an unacceptable lengthy time on hold. I have used H&R software for several years, next year I will be rethinking this.
