I've been a user of this software for over 5 years. It is well written and makes doing my taxes much easier. However if you owe a small amount of money and want to send a check, finding where to send it to is a challenge. I would recommend that the software writers provide the "send to" address immediately after the user inputs pay by check.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Have used H&R Block (and previously TaxCut) software for over 20 years. Has always been quick, easy and efficient. Have never had an issue with filing my taxes or my taxes not being correct.

Bad handling excess HSA contribs, underpmt penalty

I have been using H&R Block tax software for more than 20 years. (They won me away from TurboTax when Intuit tightened their licensing to an absurd level.) Anyway, it might be time to give TurboTax another look next year based on H&R Block's clunky handling of two unusual situations on my 2023 return. Excess HSA contributions: There's a perfectly good line for what I needed on the Other Income worksheet, z15 (Excess HSA contributions withdrawn), but instead it used z18 (Other) and put in an explanation of "Excess HSA contributions withdrawn". This doesn't give me confidence that the IRS will be happy with it. Other issue, handling underpayment penalty form: I selected Box A - request waiver of full penalty. The IRS instructions say I have to supply an attachment documenting WHY they should waive the penalty. Reasonable, right? The software gave me a clunky way to put in an explanation (limited to 4 short lines of text), but when I printed my return for filing, my explanation was nowhere to be found. Ultimately I e-filed and I *hope* the explanation was included.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
