Have used the H&R Block software for a number of years.
I find it easy to use. The only issue I had was when I wanted to split my payments for the tax that was due was figuring out how to do the split payment. The help desk wasn't of any help

I used this software for several years. But this year was the worst. It had problems importing last year's return (e.g., did not import capital loss carryover) and had server issues when i e-filed and tried to check status. I had to print and mail in the return. This type of unreliability is not acceptable.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software is great; 2023 e-file to IRS, not so much

I have used HR Block software for a long time. The interview questions are done well and even the Basic version is more than adequate for our family's tax needs. The software is reliable and has improved during the 10+ years I've used it.
This year I e-filed for both our family and our daughter....Let me say it was a confusing mess. Took multiple times to submit both.... daughter's finally filed through the HRB gateway on 4/15 and the status shows correctly in the software. My return never showed that it was successfully filed during the 10+ attempts I made on 4/14. However, I checked my email later and one of the attempts was actually successful...and then later accepted by the IRS. Because the software was not correctly showing the status, I spent 85 minutes on 4/15 waiting for chat agent to confirm it was indeed accepted by the IRS.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

Not the same great product that I’ve used for 25 years. Had major problems on April 14th, when H&R should be completely on your game. You make it awfully hard to recommend that anyone else use this.
