I've used H&R Block Basic software for several years. It is always a clear, consistent, and easy-to-use product that enables me to create several returns for my household and family. I gave an overall generous rating of 4 stars for these features. I will continue to use the H&R Block tax software for future filing. I withheld a star due to state tax versions being quite pricey, an additional charge for efiling the state tax return, and no ability to efile an amendment. These are substantial drawbacks, in my opinion, so HRB should feel happy that I did not deduct more than 1 star. There are a few other sub-optimum circumstances, but these involve system-wide issues between the tax software, IRS rules, and individual details.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

The 3 stars rating is due to the April 15 efiling problems. How does a tax software giant have problems with efile on April 15??!!
HSA interview is problematic - if both have HSA accounts but only one is actively contributing.

Could not get program to file electronically. Had to print out and mail return. Tried all online fixes but none worked. Also, had to file form 709 hard copy. Why can't that be included in program?
