I was very frustrated when I completed my 1040 tax form. The program needed to download an update which I understand is necessary) before the process could be finalized. Once the download process started there was no indication it was doing anything. I waited and waited for something to let me know it was working. After a long time of inactivity I checked out of the process and went through the process again. There needs to be some indicator that shows that the process is actually doing what it’s supposed to do. I panicked while everything seemed to be locked up, fearing I had lost my completed taxes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We have used H&R Block Tax software for many years. This year something prevented the program from automatically updating itself. We had to download the updates manually and then run them. Kind of inconvenient. Was surprised it never solved the problem thru updates.
