I bought the basic tax package. I was unhappy to find it did not include a state form without an additional fee. I question how many people need 5 federal submissions with the price of the download but do not need a state form.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents

I did not have any problems this year. The last two years were problematic because the processing of the return was delayed waiting for an update for the EV tax credit. I did not purchase a car that qualified for the credit during 2023.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

This program was easy to follow with its step by step instructions. It covered all my forms I needed to submit (which a lot of other tax's program do but you need to know where to look). This program doesn't, it forces you to look at each of your tax's forms and make the right choses.

It worked well for the most part. In one istance using H&R Block Basic, I had to submit E-file three times to get it accepted. The correction was easy to accomplish. In all three cases it would not import the .Tx file. But succceed in importing the .pdf version. It is the 3rd year I have used H&R since swithing from Turbo Tax. A big difference is real time help verses sorting endless help files.
PS: I could not access 104-V ecven after overiding on 1022. And filling in ES estimates. It was necessaey to go to US government forms and print out 4 1040 - V forms from there.
