I'm a CPA and have used H&R Block for years. For the average taxpayer, it is simple to use. This software is NOT for tax returns requiring a high level of tax knowledge and preparer skills. Nevertheless, it will suffice for almost all average taxpayers. Worth every penny!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Have bought this for several years. This year even though the H&R check said everything was OK, the IRS wouldn't accept my return. The errors weren't fixable :-( This isn't the first time the software had errors that affected my return and cost me money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

H&R Block Basic Software is always a great product. I rely on it every year for my taxes because I trust it and it's easy to use. Its value however is not competitive with other products on the market. I used it this year for convenience, but next year I might just switch as other software is also good and I need to save some money.
