Not happy at all with this purchase. Such a small build for a lot of money. These voices from all the sets I purchased are in another language. This is not the way.
So for transperency sake, I am an adult, and I purchased this set for myself mostly out of curiosity for the smart brick system. This was by far and away the most disappointing lego set ive ever purchased, never have I returned a lego product, this was taken apart and packed back in the box instantly after putting it all together. The sound effects were deplorable, im honestly shocked this passed lego q & a. I was expecting authentic tie fighter sounds and Vader's actual voice, it was gibberish, truly awful. Considering the lego Soundwave set has licensed sounds and music, clearly lego is capable. On top of the garbage smart system, this is a very very basic set, which I get, its for kids, but still, not worth the price for what you get. The only redeemable qualities were the mini figs, thats it. I can't even say that this would be a good purchase for a child, considering the price and they'd probably be familiar with the original films and would expect licensed sounds and vocals. Huuuge blunder by lego.
A product made for children. They're thick, stocky, and anyone criticizing the builds clearly has not seen a toy designed for kids play in a long time.
I would have loved this as a child. I wish my nephew was still alive, he'd have loved it and I would have loved playing with them with him.
The price is up for debate but the concept is great. I actually liked the little sets, and while the sounds are not movie accurate, anyone with some imagination won't need them to be. As a lifelong Star Wars and LEGO fan both, I find the adult-centered criticism overbearing at best.
I probably will not buy anymore for myself. I would buy more for any children in my life.
The build was standard, the features of the smart brick are great. My son is loving it, it works out great for him and makes him engage more. The value isn't there though, need more than one smart brick, if there was two the play could be really special.
Where to start.. Positives: A fairly easy and fun build. Sturdy and swooshable.
Concerns : SMART brick debuts with star wars, in a premium priced set, but doesn't make official star wars sounds!?! The price should have covered the costs to buy rights for the official sound bytes but this is a really concerning missed opportunity for Lego
It's not clear how to make sounds with smart figs , or what different motions cause what noises/lights when smart figs are near.
I feel misled to be honest, price wise, and franchise wise I would expect more.
I could be wrong but I think the confusion will make kids lose interest in the smart play aspect and just play with it the way they would any other Lego set and the smart bricks will end up gathering dust at the bottom of a toybox.
here's hoping the next wave of smart sets / smart brick updates brings much more to the table
