New Tech needs work
on March 22, 2026

The great thing about microcontrollers, is that the firmware can be updated for new features and update existing features. I can't wait for the Tie Fighter update, it really needs one. Why? The Tie Fighter sounds nothing like a Tie Fighter. With other kits, you get recognizable light saber sounds. warp drive sounds and even the cantina song, but with the Tie Fighter, you get a generic "whoosh" sound, not the iconic roar/scream from the movie franchise.
For the price, I expected a few more smart play features. This is a really expensive "starter smart brick kit" that truely needs the X-Wing kit to unlock all of the features. In my opinion, the Throne room set has limited "replay" potential and should have been cheaper, "compatible" kit without smart bricks. The X-Wing and Tie Fighter should have been bundled together to have the dual smart brick combo starter/intro kit that the Throne room tries to be. The extra cost would have been worth it.
For now, it's a bit disappointing. Maybe future kits will add a new tag for the rebel or fuel station and improve the lack luster sound effects with a firmware update. I have hope that the smart brick system will evolve and mature with time.

Kids aren’t dumb

To the criticism of these blatantly bad sets, I keep hearing; “bUt ItS fOr KiDs”. Kids who actually like Star Wars wouldn’t want this stuff. (If they could even afford it) For this set in particular, the entire back of the ship is missing. I don’t know how many actual kids they tested this with, but when swooshing around a star fighter, the back and side is what you see most. Instead of cool looking engines, you see a red blob. This is of course to accommodate the ‘smart’ brick, which can’t even make accurate sounds. Any kid with a standard imagination can make more accurate sounds with their own mouth. (While only paying a fraction of the price for a decent looking play-set back in the day).
As a once kid fan of Lego myself, I would rather have an accurate and cool looking model to play with and re-build in my own way than this static ugly piece of bantha poodoo
Unimaginative, overpriced, and the worst mistake in Lego Star Wars since, well, just last year. You gotta do better Lego.

This exact same gimmick was somehow done better 40 years ago with Light and Sound. Make of that what you will.

It's a play set

Purchased for myself because I wanted to experience the good (and bad) of the smart brick, and it's functions. As an adult fan of Lego, there are sets for my taste and this is simply not one of them. If I have a family one day I have no doubt my kid's will enjoy playing around with the Lego Smart Brick if it lasts that long... if not, I'm sure the Lego Mario, Luigi, and Peach will still be turning on just fine. :p

Do not buy this

Do not trust the obvious fake over the top 5 star reviews. They are not genuine and anyone with a brain would be able to tell. The design looks bad ESPECIALLY when you look from the back. The smart brick sounds bad and its not worth it. This product line will flop. Lego is overselling these and they are failing. Avoid. They are botting 5 star reviews.

The Force is NOT with this one...

I collect all things LEGO Darth Vader. I have every set ever made with a Vader in it, so naturally I had to purchase this one also. While some elements of the build were interesting, mostly some unique design techniques or the quality of the new windshield piece, I could not be more disappointed with this product. I write this fully acknowledging that the product was designed for kids. I'm not sure there's been a worse value for the money set marketed by LEGO. The build is smaller than one would expect and, for the brick functionality, doesn't even feel completed. The "best" feature is the ability to create shooting sounds while playing. Despite playing with it for several minutes, I could not get it to play the "Imperial March" sound except for once and even then, it only plays the first stanza, so that is incomplete also. Vader is VERY hard to put in and take out of his seat. The side builds are pretty MEH. Obviously, I get these sets were designed for (and it seems by) kids, but my kids mostly just laugh at the fake sounds.
