It's a really good system and the app is very useful for tracking how you're doing to get better results.
Problem? The brush position sensing can get confused, and it always assumes you're going with the app. Having a quick "half-pulse" at the 10 second mark to change sides of the segment would be nice. Having the brush know whether you moved quadrants (perhaps you're taking a bit longer or it's a known problem area" would be great too. 'Course if you can do that, then don't have the brush end the 2 minute timer until you finish the last segment with at least 20 seconds. Or if you exceed say 3 or 4 minutes total. And you can always still turn it off.
I haven't figured out the charging. I leave it on on the base overnight and it still always only has 1 bar lighted. It also doesn't allow you to pause during a session, the session resets.
Brush is good, but app and BT supports severely lacking

This is my third Sonicare brush. It works as well as any of the earlier models, but I do like the slimmer profile and more visible settings as they display on the handle when in use. The over-pressure indicator light on the base of the handle works well. Plus, being able to charge it by sitting it in a glass on a charging base is a nice touch. I'll never use the glass for mouthwash, but it's a convenient way to keep the brush charged.
The reason why I give this a two star rating is based on the application you're supposed to use with the brush. It is very poorly designed, and does not follow standard bluetooth connectivity protocols. In other words, like other bluetooth devices, this one never permanently pairs with your smartphone. Every time you use the app, it attempts to pair with the brush, and that process is very hit and miss. When it does connect, I do like the way the app shows your brushing progress.
If I had written this review two weeks ago, I would have given it four stars. The missing star would be due to the coaching "nag" windows that always show at the top of the screen. This is annoying and should be a feature the user can enable or disable to keep the view less cluttered. What has changed since two weeks ago is that a firmware update showed as being avaialble, and ever since I applied that update, the brush will never remain paired with my phone for the full brushing cycle. It seems to disconnect consistently part way through the fifth brushing zone. So I'm thinking this is a time-out that occurs after 90 seconds, and tied to the bizarre concept of not permanently pairing the brush to the phone. One last point. You have to enable location tracking for the application to work. The manufacturers state that this is required for the bluetooth function to work with the brush, and to me, that does not make any sense. No other bluetooth device I own required location tracking to function. It's invasive and should not be required. Philips needs to change this.
If Philips redesigned the app to: a) allow permanent pairing between the brush and phone, b) remove the requirement for location tracking to function, c) better test firmware updates before release, and d) allow the user to enable or disable the hints at the top of the screen... I would give the brush/application combination a full 5 stars.
Until those changes are made, I would not recommend this brush.
Pros: handle design, ease of charging, multiple brushing schemes
It cleans very well. Very efficient. Impressed with first use of the new brush head- very comfortable, not hurting at all, unlike other brands. Certainly will continue to purchase Philips products including toothbrushes.
