I am so impressed by this product!

I have owned various brands of electric toothbrushes over the years, including an other model of Sonicare. I've always been relatively pleased with how my electric toothbrushes have worked, but have had a change of heart after using the Diamond Clean Smart toothbrush.
This toothbrush came with 3 different types of brushes-one for over all cleaning, one for gum health and one for whitening, as well as, a tongue brush. It includes a sturdy glass with charging stand that plugs into a wall outlet and allows the device to charge easily. It also comes with a charging travel carrying case that holds 2 brush heads and the handle. It is able to be charged using a USB port.
There is an app you can use that tracks your brushing and gives you realtime information regarding the amount of pressure or how well you're brushing. Honestly, I found that the app was informative, but not something I remembered to use every time I brushed my teeth. It works using a bluetooth connection, but you have to have the app actively ready before you begin brushing or it won't pick up the information. The app is sort of a fun perk, but I didn't feel like I had to use it every time to know that my teeth were clean and I was brushing well.
This toothbrush made me more conscious of the amount of time I spent brushing my teeth and more aware of hitting all areas in my mouth. There is a slight pause that lets you know when to switch areas each time you brush. There are also 3 different intensity levels you can use by simply pushing a button on the handle.
I have always tried to take great care of my teeth and hate when my teeth haven't felt completely smooth and clean. This toothbrush has done a great job of cleaning my teeth and gums and has left my teeth looking even better and feeling so clean! I'll be very curious to see what my dentist thinks when I go for my 6 month checkup in a few weeks.
Overall I was very impressed with this toothbrush and am thrilled that I have this upgraded electric toothbrush to use. I did receive this toothbrush for free in exchange for an honest review.
Pros: charging travel case

My favorite features of this toothbrush is the pressure sensor which informs you when you are brushing too hard.

I received a free sample of the Philips Sonicare 9300 DiamondCleam Smart (HX9903/11) to review. Having owned a few different Sonicare models over the past several years, I was excited to see how the 9300 DiamondCleam Smart would compare. Right out of the box you notice it`s slim black design which fits perfectly into your hand. Would it be awkward to call this toothbrush sexy?
It comes with three brush heads to choose from; Premium Plaque Control, Premium Gum Care, and Premium White. Naturally I was drawn to the Premium Gum Care brush head because, according to my dentist, I have always been a `hard tooth brusher`. This tendency resulted in some mild gum recession which I have to be mindful of when brushing. This is why one of my favorite features of this toothbrush is the pressure sensor which informs you when you are brushing too hard. The pressure warning light will light up purple to let you know to ease up a bit.
My other favorite design feature of this toothbrush is the charging glass. I find this to be an easier and cleaner way to charge the toothbrush. In my experience it was also less likely to be knocked off the charger base by accident.
PROS:
- Excellent charger base design with rinsing glass
- Pressure sensor
- 4 modes and 3 intensities
- High quality travel case
- Battery life (at least two weeks on a single charge)
CONS:
- Sonicare App - I guess this really isn`t a con, but more so just a feature I will most likely never use. The smart sensors in the toothbrush allow you to see the areas of the mouth that you may have overlooked when brushing. Seems like a lot of extra work to me, but I guess I can see it being useful for a child when trying to teach good brushing techniques and habits. For the same reasons, I can see the personalized mouth map feature helpful for addressing trouble areas (plaque build up, gum recession, etc) when brushing. I`d would just like to see an app that reminds my nine year old to put the toothbrush into his mouth before turning it on. Cleaning toothpaste off the ceiling is never fun.
Overall, I LOVED the Philips Sonicare 9300 DiamondCleam Smart. Out of the handful of Sonicare models I have owned over the years, this is hands down my favorite so far. I really feel that Philips takes customer feedback to heart and uses the feedback to improve their designs and functionality. Now if you will excuse me, I have some toothpaste I need to clean off the ceiling. :)
Pros: excellent charger base design with rinsing glass, pressure sensor, 4 modes and 3 intensities, high quality travel case, battery life (at least two weeks on a single charg

A Convert to Bluetooth, App Based Brushing!
on June 30, 2017

Being a long time user of an older Philips Sonicare toothbrush (which I have always liked and has definitely helped my mouth to be healthier based on reduced dental issues and reduced dental costs), I was skeptical that a bluetooth/app based toothbrush would provide much incremental benefit. I most certainly am mistaken. Starting at the beginning, the toothbrush box was easy to open and the manual was well written. In retrospect, the manual was almost unnecessary because the app provided almost all of the information required to use the toothbrush. The app was easy to download (I have the Apple version) and provided a nice, succinct overview of the product. It was especially nice that the toothbrush came with enough charge to use it the first time without having to fully charge it prior to use. Things actually became kind of fun when I pressed the `BRUSH` button on the app and started to brush my teeth with my new toothbrush (the bluetooth connection was flawless and transparent to me). A diagram of my mouth appeared on the app and the area I should brush was highlighted with a timer indicating how long to brush in that area. As I brushed, the diagram showed which areas I was brushing well and which areas I was missing. It was particularly helpful that the app told me when I was moving the toothbrush too much. I realized that I had been very inefficient with my old, non-bluetooth toothbrush. When I had finished brushing all areas, the app told me which areas had received the least attention and asked me to touch them up. It walked me through the touch up process and showed me how well I succeeded at the touch up. At the end of the brushing exercise, my mouth actually felt better and cleaner than it ever did from using the old Sonicare product. My gums felt particularly stimulated, clean, and washed. I have not used the whitening brush or the gum care brush and only use the deep cleaning brush. It works fine for me and I do not think that I will even try the other brushes. If it is not broken, don`t fix it. In summary, I am a reluctant convert to the world of bluetooth, app based toothbrushing! By the way, the charging system (induction based with no plugs required) is very slick. Just put your toothbrush in the provided glass and it magically charges! All in all, this is a very well designed product that is easy to master and is a pleasure to use. I look forward to my next dental check up and a positive health report from my dentist! Note: I received a free sample for providing an open and honest review of this product.
Pros: easy to use, good app. simple but informative, it really works!
Cons: expensive retail price

I have been an owner of Sonicare tooth brushes for over 15 years and the Sonicare Diamond Clean version since it came out. This one is so easy to use and with the IOS and Android app their is no cheating and ensures that your teeth are clean every time you brush.
Best investment that I have made in buying Sonicare Tooth Brushes.

Great Product and nice improvement over the original

In the interest of transparency, I do need to note that I was provided with a sample DiamondClean Smart as a prize in a contest for sharing feedback about the product.
That being said, I've been using this toothbrush for about a week. I purchased my first Sonicare DiamondClean a little over 2 & 1/2 years and this is definitely a nice upgrade. My biggest issue with the original DiamondClean was that it was meant to be the top of the line Sonicare toothbrush but there were some discrepancies in features between that and the Flexcare that made the decision between those two toothbrushes difficult (ex. DiamondClean did not have the pressure sensor). Thankfully the new DiamondClean Smart includes all these features and then some. Since I have some experience with the prior DiamondClean, I will make a lot of comparisons between the two since this is now the step up in comparison to that.
There's a bit more in the package then was in the original DiamondClean. The DiamondClean Smart comes with 7 brushes and a tongue scraper brush. The travel case with the DiamondClean Smart has a built-in USB cable and is a little larger and has better storage capacity. One nice new feature is the inclusion of a secondary button to swap between modes rather than using the power button to do so. This does remove some of the minimalist aesthetic of the original DiamondClean, but functionally is an improvement and I prefer it.
The brushes included are also the "Smart Brush Heads" and automatically select their specific mode on the brush. Their are 3 Plaque Control brushes (slight blue color and labeled C3), Gum Care (purple and labeled G3), and Whiten (green and you guessed it, labeled W3).The brush designs differ and are supposed to focus on your goals. Thankfully, you are not locked into using their specific modes and can swap to a different mode.
Similar to the prior DiamondClean, the brush charges wirelessly. One important item to note is that I had to use the new charger and could not use the old DiamondClean to charge this brush. I have not yet tested whether the old DiamondClean would charge on this new charger but I'm assuming it will. The brush also now vibrates once it begins charging.
The biggest notable difference is that the brush now uses six sections for your mouth rather than the previous 4. For those unfamiliar with these brushes, the brush has a 2 minute timer for brushing your teeth and vibrates when you need to move to the next section (30 second increments with the original DiamondClean versus 20 seconds with the DiamondClean Smart). I personally preferred 4 quadrants using back and front for top and bottom as each quadrant, but the new methodology (based on the phone app) is right, middle, left for top and bottom.
Which brings us to the phone app. A big thought that I'm sure most people would have is, "Why do I need to use an app to brush my teeth?" Well, the benefit is that the app is meant to track how well you are brushing each section of your teeth and help you improve your overall health. The brush uses bluetooth to connect to your phone and the app automatically connects with the brush without having to go through any pairing process. The app requests your goals and shows your progress while brushing and awards points for reaching certain goals. This reminds me a lot of the show "Whose Line is it Anyway?" since there seems to be no way to view your points and there seems to be no benefit to the points. Perhaps I'm missing something or there is something to come in the future. As I mentioned previously, the app tracks your brushing and it seems that it uses an internal gyroscope to determine which side your brushing. This also explains why they generated an additional 2 sections so that it could better track how well you're brushing each section. You can also change which section you begin with, but there's not much more customization after that. Whilst brushing, the app will provide feedback if you're using too much pressure (although the brush lights up and vibrates to indicate this as well) or moving the brush too fast so you can make sure you're using the brush properly. With the clean and deep clean modes (haven't tested all modes), if there are areas that you need to touch up, the app will notify you to turn the brush back on to properly clean those areas. Unfortunately, the timer is not adjusted and the brush continues to stay on after you touch up those sections. Additionally, I continue to have some issues with how the app tracks my brushing as it doesn't seem to ever indicate that I'm brushing certain sections no matter how I rotate the brush and does not provide any feedback as to why but it seems to do it with certain angles. I'm hoping this is just a minor issue with the tracking or the particular brush head and can be fixed with a future app release or the next brush head I use. The app also tracks how many sessions you've brushed and uses that to track when you need to replace your brush. Unfortunately, if you accidentally turn on the brush and turn it back off, this will count as a session and there is no way to delete erroneous sessions such as this. The app will also pull data from brushing sessions when the app is not connected to track time brushed. Overall, I'm not a big fan of the app, but continue to use it as it is nice to have the synchronized timer so that I know where to brush even though the tracking is not on par.
Personally, I really like this brush and think it's a nice improvement over the previous DiamondClean. Even if you don't intend to use the app, the additional brush features are a nice upgrade and my concerns with the app should hopefully be addressed as development continues. If you use a manual toothbrush I highly recommend purchasing a Sonicare and feeling the difference it makes when brushing your teeth and this would be a great one to start using. Obviously the price may be slightly prohibitive, but since I feel like I've had less dental issues ever since I first started using a Sonicare, it definitely pays for itself.
As I've just used this for a week, there may be some features or issues that I may not have identified or fully understood and will try to edit my review if there are any major items to note.
Pros: great design, easy to use, cleans great, includes a tongue scraper
Cons: the app tracking needs imprement

The brush: love it. The app: meh

The brush is great. I had used a Rotadent brush for a couple of years at my dentist's recommendation, but still had problems with plaque. I switched to the Philips Diamond Clean, which gets my mouth a lot cleaner and I have less plaque. The app, however, is clunky and largely uninformative.
Pros: clean teeth
Cons: the app
