I bought two of the wides. They keep the coffee hot — probably too hot to drink directly from the mug, but they fit our purpose very well.

I gave the mug 5 stars because it is everything promised by the company. It's extremely well made and keeps beverages piping hot. I purchased the 16 oz. Carter Wide Mug. It's too big. I make tea in mine, and the volume is too much for one tea. The whole thermos just seems too large. I think I would have preferred the 12 oz. Wide Mug. Again, I gave the mug 5 stars because the mug is great! These are just my personal preferences.

Don't sleep on the inner ceramic coating

I really enjoy this mug. The mechanism to open and close the Carter Slide Lid's sipping aperture is tactile and satisfying. I've come to really love the inner ceramic coating, which does a tremendous job of keeping the metallic taste out of my coffee. The thermal performance is also excellent, with my drink remaining warm from 9AM until 3PM each day.

Quite literally use these as my everyday mugs because they keep my coffee the perfect temperature. My husband wakes up earlier than I do, makes my coffee, puts the lid on and leaves it next to the bed for me to find when I wake up — perfectly warm, perfectly delicious.
