Seems simple, well made, and not what I'm looking for

Seems fine. I am looking for a travel mug (i.e., sits in a cup holder, doesn't leak, can drink from it in the car) that has a wide enough mouth to brew directly into using aeropress or pour over. This is wide enough (barely), doesn't leak, and sits in the cupholder but to drink I have to fully open the thermos, which isn't practical in the car.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Carter wide is my favorite! I love the size and feel of the mug, easy to clean, and the taste quality of my drink due to the ceramic lining inside makes LFG.

Let Simple Win

These are superior to any travel mug or thermos we've used for one very specific reason: simplicity. This mug is genuinely that: a cup. It has a reasonably secure screw top lid so you can get your beverage from one place to another, and then you remove that lid and have a NORMAL (insulated) cup. No moving parts that inevitably fail, no weird button or locking mechanism, just... Cup with Lid. Far more pleasant to drink from and less finicky to use and clean.

Love the mugs, always have, always will! Of course they are great for hot coffee but to be honest, even better for iced coffee, also super great for an iced cold beer…stays cold from the first sip to the last!
