False Advertising

They tell you that you get one FREE state return submittal. However, when it comes time to submit the one state return they charge you. FALSE advertising. I'll just go to the State filing website ad submit there! It is a VERY simple return.

Still room for improvement, but still pretty good.

Initial entry of data is pretty good, the download version is noticeably faster than the online version. Navigation for review and correcting of entries is not intuitive, but doable.

Very good, but has some annoying features.

TurboTax generally works very well. But there are annoyances. Two examples: I live in a no tax state and I have already told the program we have no income from other states. However, TurboTax continuously asks me to download/complete/file a state return. It's irritating. Why do I need to sign onto TurboTax to use the scan your W-2 feature? The repeated sales pitches are also annoying, but I guess you have to expect that.

NO SAVE OPTION DURING DATA ENTRY
on February 22, 2026

DID NOT GIVE ME OPTIONS TO SAVE DURING DATA ENTRY PROCESS. LOCKED UP AFTER 3 HOURS WORK AND LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE I HAD TO FORCE QUIT. THEN HAD TO START OVER. ALSO COULD NOT PRINT JUST MY STATE FORM FOR MAILING (MORE DIFFICULT THAN PREVIOUS YEARS. I HAVE BEEN USING TURBOTAX FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS. TOO MANY ADS FOR ADDITIONAL TUROTAX SDRVICES. I PAID.FOR THE PROGRAM, LET ME GET IT DONE WITHOUT THE USED CAR SALESMAN APPROACH.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

TurboTax 2025 for retiree taxes (uncomplicated)
on February 22, 2026

Accuracy: Instructions for some requested information is incomplete and/or incorrect (in particular, investment expenses are requested and are used in generating CA state return; however, there are important qualifications not included in the directions describing what should be entered). Compatibility: worked fine with Apple Silicon Mac Features: access to forms is very helpful in tracking down and understanding deductions Interface: interface is generally good; however, there needs to be better documentation on how to use it.

Reliable and Familiar
on February 22, 2026

I've been using TurboTax for years and I like the continuity and familiarity. My 4 starts come from two reasons. I'm not able to adjust the size of the font. I'd like to be able to select font size (S, M, L) with the program. This will improve accessibility. Second I did not like the form download experience. I prefered the seamless process that was offered in the past.
