Tax Prep is Good, Estimate Calc Needs Work

I had no issues entering or calculating my tax return for Federal or State. I was disappointed that I found no way to adjust projected income for 2026 to calculate and create Estimate vouchers. I know that income does not vary from year to year for many users, but for someone retiring or ending a second job, it is essential. Please add this to future software.

Turbo tax 2025

I didn't care for the new layout as I was constantly having to scroll up/down or look for things. When inputting dividends and interest I discovered duplicate files. The process was less friendly than what I've been used to and we've used turbo tax for years. I also had a difficult time transferring last years data but found the import of some information easy and effective.

I like the software

I have been using TurboTax as far back as 2000, and each year I love it. This year I had some unique twist and decided to use the "live tax advice" feature ($50). While the associate did appear knowledgeable, I did not feel that the service was worth it. Other than that, TT is a great tool year after year..

The only problem I had was with the updating and installing of those updates. The system "hung up" at about 4% installed, and I waited about an hour and then restarted the whole updating and installing process. It worked that time, but slowly.

TurboTax is Good but has Room for Improvement

I have used TurboTax for well over a decade. I was disappointed in this year's version. I have a full-time housekeeper and had to file paper copies of the W2 and W3. If I can file my return electronically, why can't I also file these forms electronically?
I also had problems with reporting my required minimum distribution (RMD). I believe I only entered the information once, but TurboTax created a form indicating that my RMD was twice the actual amount and assessed me the requisite penalty. The penalty remained even when I tried deleting and re-entering my RMD information. I had to go into the form and manually delete the excess payment and penalty information. TurboTax also does not question whether there are duplicate entries when entries are made that are identical to information already imported. TurboTax is good, but there is a lot of room for improvement.
