Wants money every step of the way

Keep asking for money at every step even though it was software issue and not clearly defined - even tax expert took 20 mins to figure out where and how to put the values

My federal retirement pay, code 04E, was not automatically carried over to my state form as non-taxable income. It had to be manually carried forward, showing up in only one of two places correctly. This resulted in a return of taxes instead of owing more taxes.

TurboTax 2024 taxes QSBS as ordinary income

My CPA found an error with Turbotax causing me to overpay Federal by $11,845 and CA by $3,765 because Line 11 Code O when from Qualified Small Business Stock sale should not be included in ordinary income. I had to override TurboTax K-1 entry in order to correct this expensive TurboTax mistake in my amended return.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax is an excellent tool for any household

I have used TurboTax to file my Federal and State income taxes for 30 years now and am pleased with how easy it is to use, how accurate and thorough it is, and the fact that it has saved us from having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per year in accountant and bookkeeping fees. Most years, I have received a refund, while in other years, I've owed taxes. TurboTax has helped me ensure my taxes are done correctly.

TurboTax continues to Fall Short of its potential

TurboTax Step-by-Step is slow, plodding and repetitive. Some entries must be repeated every time a topic is modified or reviewed. It is difficult to see the overall picture of what is happening in the tax return. It is unfortunate that temporarily converting part of a residence from rental to personal use, loses past depreciation records which should be preserved in TurboTax until the property is sold. Turbo Tax crashed when it was necessary to change the checking account number for IRS refunds. It took several iterations to change the account number and save corrected pdf files. Nothing has been done about compatibility with Quicken. If a change is made in Quicken, it is necessary to the return from scratch in TurboTax. Does anyone understand that preparing a tax return is in iterative process, especially with Quicken or QuickBooks. I wish that Step-by-Step could switch to a form and return without losing context. I also wish that Step-by-Step had fewer windows and used tables to allow all expenses related to business or real estate to be entered on the same page. This would maximize comprehension and avoid errors caused by the "tunnel" view of Step-by-Step. I want to enter tax data in the order I find it, not in some pre-determined order for each topic. TurboTax should be able to track completed or missing data. TurboTax did not flag depreciation for a property that had been converted to personal use the year before. Carryover from prior year questions raise doubts about what TurboTax did in the prior year. If TurboTax has been used for many years, shouldn't TurboTax already have the necessary information. Finally, the infamous detail table overwrite bug has not been fixed as of the 2022 version. If a table exists, entering an amount overwrites the first line in the detail window.

TurboTax - meh! Same and new issues. Do better.

Every year for the last 30 years I fight with TurboTax on depreciation. This year was another headache. Key forms were missing and I had to review every worksheet to correct many things. Inheritied IRAs are yet another headache. Found out when I called the IRS that only my tax id was protected by an extension. My other half's tax id was not protected by the extension filed through TurboTax. This comes into play when filing Married filing separate. The IRS stated two filing extensions need to be - one for each tax id. TurboTax, you are paid to know all federal and state laws.
