TurboTax is the best!

TURBOTAX LETS ME WAIT TILL LAST MINUTE,BUT IT SUX

I'VE USED TURBOTAX EXCLUSIVELY FOR OVER 10 YEARS.
THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THAT IT IMPORTS MOST OF THE LAST YEAR'S INFO.
EVERY YEAR, I GET A NOTICE IN THE MAIL OF SOMETHING THAT WAS MISSED OR NOT CALCULATED PROPERLY WITH TURBO TAX, AND I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA PLUS PENALTIES/INTEREST.
IN THE REVIEW SECTION, THE PROGRAM JUST SAYS "WE FOUND A PROBLEM. THIS LINE ISN'T FILLED IN. IT MUST BE FILLED IN TO SUBMIT" OR SOMETHING.
THATS WHY I PAY FOR TURBO TAX! FILL IN THE NECESSARY LINES IN THE STATE FORMS BASED ON THE INFO ALREADY GATHERED.
I'M NOT A CPA, I DON'T KNOW THE JARGIN.
ALSO, THE PROGRAM ALWAYS INCLUDES FORMS THAT SHOULDN'T BE. THEN, THOSE FORMS END UP BLANK. THEN, DURING THE REVIEW, I'M ALWAYS TOLD TO FILL IN MORE INFO ON THOSE FORMS.
ONE MORE THING... IF IT SAYS I NEED TO ENTER SOMETHING FROM A PREVIOUS YEAR, THE PROGRAM SAHOULD BE ABKLE TO ACCESS THAT. I HAVE ALL PREVIOUS YEARS ON THE SAME COMPUTER. BUT, INSTAED IT ASKS FOR ME TO LOOK IT UP. I CAN'T!!
THE FILES WON'T OPEN UNLESS I ENTER THE CD CODE FROM THE TURBOTAX PROGRAM I USED FROM THAT YEAR! WHY WOULD I HAVE SAVED THAT?!
I CAN'T EVEN ACCESS MY OWN PREVIOUS YEAR RETURNS BECAUSE OF THIS.
THE NEWEST TURBOTAX SOFTWARE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ABLE TO OPEN SAVED RETURNS FROM ALL PREVIOUS YEARS!

TurboTax imported data incorrectly - big risk

I've used TurboTax for years, and while it has its quirks and issues, overall it's been very helpful. However, for filing my 2024 taxes, it incompletely AND incorrectly imported data from 2023, which impacted 2024 numbers. I had to hand-edit all of the errors within the forms section, which took more time than doing the original return. It was a total waste of time, and it significantly reduces my confidence in the accuracy of TurboTax.

Tax prep is mostly a scam, but you could do worse

It is shocking that Intuit, H&R Block and others spend millions lobbying so that the IRS CANNOT by law send you a estimate, which most people with W2 taxes could just sign and be done with it. Millions of person hours are wasted each year completing taxes in the US. It is not like this in Singapore. That said, once you accept the moral abhorrence of state capture on tax preparation, you could do worse than TurboTax.
Things I don't like 1) you can't copy paste from the SW to search for answers, just hassley. 2) They keep trying to flog additional services for $60. Let me say no once and be done with it.
