additional charge
on April 15, 2025

I purchased the $95 Home&Business for the 2024 tax return, which includes the state tax return. Before the last step of filing the return, I have to pay an additional $25 for CA state return. I don't get what this is about.

As always, Turbo Tax walked me through all the steps to prepare my taxes. Never a hassle, and I know that if I have any issues, there is support available from the Turbo Tax staff.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Like Turbo Tax, hate Quickbooks pricing
on April 15, 2025

TT gets better every year, still reasonable pricing, good software that works, like the error process which kills the yellow boxes. Don't make the mistake Quickbooks did and force me to an online version with exorbitant download version (Download Mac cost $999/year!) rates. May be quitting QB, which never talked to TT anyway. Intuit never managed to merge my two accounts properly.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Desktop version is not available from the TurboTax
on April 15, 2025

I would give five stars, but Intuit makes it impossible to buy the desktop version of TurboTax via their web page. I understand that you want to push people to buy the online version, but I know what I want and it isn't directly available on your page. Simple is good; put the desktop version for sale on your page.

Critical flaws in not requiring entry of IP PIN
on April 15, 2025

E-file was rejected for missing IP PIN number. Tried to enter it on the worksheet. Wouldn't let me do it. Tried to find where to enter it via HELP function. Gave me INCORRECT tab to go to--there isn't even a "Federal" tab on TT Home & Office. Found online that with Home & Office, you should go to "Personal" tab--but the needed entry box isn't in the "Personal Info" tab, it's on the "Personal" tab which is three spaces away from the "Personal Info" tab. Inexcusable. I spent more time finding and entering the IP PIN (which TT should have asked me to enter before it let me e-file the first time) than it did actually entering and doing the taxes.

Turbotax is okay

I like Turbotax because I feel I can be sure I get the best deal on my taxes. However, I sometimes find it difficult to use. Every time I open it, it tells me to wait a minute for an update. A lot of times it is very slow. But it does the job.
