Wish you had the schedule C info easier to find when putting in deductions, but still best way to do taxes!!!!

2024 Turbo Tax -- TERRIBLE

This is the worst experience I have ever had with Turbo Tax. Problems all through filling it out. Finally, get it filled out with the help of Claude and ChatGPT. All the error checking finally completed. Go through the payment process, and find two more errors needing correction. Then go to save the return as a PDF and get a notice there are errors on the return and no help on how to find or fix them. Paid $25 for electronic filing and can't file or fix the errors.

Passive Operating Loss bug ... sum of losses

There was a massive Error in turbotax which prevented me from e-filing until corrected (no explanations were given). (Passive Operating Loss bug ... "sum of losses in individual years should not exceed the total")
“You can always print out and mail in your return” is really bad advice since this would only hardcode the error for future years. This was the suggestion given within the program and from several 'experts' on the turbotax official forum.
In short, NOT ALL OF THE (Business Passive Operating) CARRYOVER LOSSES from prior years were imported correctly. This amounted to a potential loss of over $75K for me, not including future years.
This bug was reported as far back as February but NOT CORRECTED the night before taxes were due!!!
The issue was TTX did not import or handle these entries properly when importing .tax files from prior years (i.e. 2023 taxes prepared with turbotax). I had to reopen the TTX software from last year to manually verify the figures and correct them in 2024 using forms edit in order to correct the issue and clear the Error Flag which prevented me from e-filing. This bug will probably cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in future years, as the losses were not carried over. If you find yourself wondering about this in future years, check your 2024 TTX returns. Note these are buried in worksheets and do not even print in 2023 (even with the 'all worksheets' option checked). You will have to literally open 2023 turbotax software again to verify that the numbers there (various Sched E worksheets) were not carried into 2024's turbotax returns.

TurboTax HB confidence lost

Total loss of confidence for a long term user. Issues that could not be resolved in the program that forced to spend time searching on company website. Questions left open ended where audit may happen even when not owing funds. More time consuming this year.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments

This used to be a good program, been using it for many years. But the last couple years there's been various glitches which were very frustrating, even though I kept up with updates.
