State instructions for mail in forms

no instructions on state filing by mail. No need to pay for efile if you are not getting a refund.

Turbo tax app changes this year was difficult

Last year the software did not require me to file an out of state tax (IL) because I had a rental income there but a loss with no tax due. This year the software made it clear that we need to file regardless of profit or loss

Not as good as other years

Unlike previous years, this year I had to work hard to find where to enter certain information. For example, the steps didn't navigate through the section for business-related expenses. Also, the program said I put $0 for my daughter's tuition, but I hadn't been asked to complete the 1098-T information (or tuition) yet. I had to try to find these steps, which took a lot more time. I also couldn't figure out where to include marketing costs (taking a client out for a meal). Other years I was very happy with my experience, but this year was difficult.

Becoming more difficult to use

The desktop product quality is declining. It is becoming more difficult to use while also exhibiting more bugs. Without assistance live experts, I don't think I would have been able to use the product this year even those I've used it for decades.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments
