Program is easy to follow for personal and business tax filing. It catches simple errors. I am glad I used the program again for 2024.

TurboTax is becoming harder to use/more expensive

1. Foreign tax credit was very difficult to get through.
2. Explanation required for tax credit was very confusing, especially since support informed me that it was my standard deduction.
3. Price for extra state is very high.
4. UI issues where 1099-NEC shows $0, even though details show differently and "misc income" shows a large number even though I did not file 1099-A, 1099-C, etc.

For me, TurboTax is not as good as it used to be.

My biggest disappointments about the latest (not the greatest) edition of TurboTax were:
1. It does not have a feature that it used to have where it can retrieve information from the previous year's taxes to eliminate the tedious process of entering personal information. It could also provide a reminder of what sources of income were reported.
2. I was very annoyed by all the emails I was getting from TurboTax reminding me to file. I came very close to identifying the sender as SPAM.
3. The above issue caused my e-file to be REJECTED. I went to my copy of last year's filing to retrieve the AGI & I entered it. The reason for the rejection was that the prior year AGI did not agree & according to TurboTax it is RUTH's AGI!
4.. When it comes to State taxes, previous editions gave an up-front option of printing & mailing the State return. Although it is possible to do so in 2024 edition, the options presented for filing ONLY included e-file or e-file later.
5. I will NOT be using TurboTax ever again!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Mostly great, but some clumsiness and confusion.

Problems with entering K-1 information line 20 Z. If you enter a number, Turbo Tax will flag the item and not allow transmitting to IRS. You cannot delete the check box for Z and try again. Extensive Googling suggests that lots of people have the same problem. There is no way to fix this on the form either. Z shows up red.
The solution is to not enter a number and continue with step-by-step, which will ask for more information on your 199A income. Then the form completes without flagging an error.
Obviously, the programming fix is to not allow data entry at that line, and put a note that section 199 details will be entered on the next screen.

I've been filing with TurboTax Home and Business for years and have loved the product... would have given 5 Stars Unfortunately dropping software support for Windows 10 next year means you will lose me as customer. I have NO PLANS to be FORCED into Windows 11 just to file my taxes. Lame decision on your part.. Bye

TurboTax constant up-sell / side-sell is tiresome

The help screens aren't great. The constant trying to sell you on tax advice, tax shield, tax consulting is just tiresome. Stop! Deliver a good product and go away.

e-Filing surprises
on April 13, 2025

What's with the message when e-filing: "Print and Mail These Forms to the Government: Even though you e-filled, you're still required to print and mail these forms. Don't skip this important step! Your return isn't complete without it." The forms TurboTax wants me to "mail" are AR8453-OL (ARKANSAS INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX DECLARATION FOR ELECTRONIC FILING) and AR1000DC (ARKANSAS INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX CERTIFICATE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES). When printing or saving (pdf) the form, data on the pdf or printed page is gibberish. For example: "8QGHUSHQDOWLHVRISHU . . . ," and there's two pages worth of this. Also, no mailing address is given. Where do I mail these two forms? The funny part is, at the bottom of page 1, it says: "DO NOT MAIL."
Filing and paying for e-filing should not need to include surprises like this. Come on Turbo-Tax, you can do better than this . . . "Not cool!"
